Sharing The Story of Forgiveness With a New Generation
The most powerful part of our ministry is sharing Louis Zamperini's incredible story with others. Executive Director Luke Zamperini has a unique perspective on what made Louis such a unique person, and is able to share the power of forgiveness and what it means to be a survivor in terms that are relatable to today's youth. Both Luke and his son Clay have had the opportunity to share with the ongoing graduating classes at Sunburst Youth Academy.
Today, Luke and his son Clay continue to tell the story of their great patriarch in many venues and settings. From schools and churches to performance centers and cruise ships, the story continues to be told with detail and insight that can only come from the intimacy of a lifelong relationship with the 'Great Zamperini.'
Luke's last words to his father on the day he passed away were, "Dad, you are going home to be with the Lord today, but your work here on earth is not done. Your story will continue to impact people for generations to come. Well done, good and faithful servant."
"Young people see my grandfather as a role model—an ordinary man with an extraordinary ability to persevere—and it is remarkable to see firsthand the power that his story has on young people. Being able to relay the lessons he taught me in a tangible way and see kids open their hearts to it is the greatest joy I could imagine," Clay Zamperini
